6acre farm friends

Dogs

Doug is our main man.  Small but mighty. He is well versed in the world of livestock.  Doug supervises all things 6acre farm including farm work, chicken monitoring, pig management, sheep and alpaca herding and only occasionally tries to kill the cats.

Alpacas

We have 3 huacaya alpacas living with us.  These 3 brothers from other mothers were born in the Okanagan, and are very bonded, each with unique personalities.  Kramer is our white alpaca, he likes to act tough and is the first to spit, kick or start a fight…..but we know he secretly is a cuddly guy at heart.  Jerry has wonderful black fleece and is the social butterfly of the group.  He is a complete flirt, running over to greet anyone who happens to stop by. George is the lover of our group.  He has the softest brown fleece and the best manners, which he has been known to forget when apples are available but we cut him a little slack around that.

Sheep

Summer 2025 we brought 3 purebred Rambouillet sheep to the farm.  These beautiful ladies came to us from Manitoba.  We had a gate accident one day and the sheep let themselves in to the alpaca pasture and that was the beginning of a beautiful friendship!   These three ladies…Twinkle, Mildred and Winnie are madly in love with their alpaca brothers and follow them everywhere.

Cats

Our cats secretly run the show at 6 acre farm and have us at their beck and call.   Kitty kitty is one of our original mousers and the matriarch of the group.  She has definitely passed her hunting genes along to Captain Underpants and together they keep us rodent free.   Frank is our gentle giant....he prefers long walks, chin scratches and marching to his own drum.  Despite hours spent stalking we have yet to see him catch anything…..but that’s ok Frank we still love you!

Chickens

Our chickens are the “original gangstas” on the farm. We blame them as our “gateway animal”. We first started our chicken adventures with a small flock of birds from a friend.  We now have Bielevelders, Ameraucana and crested legbars (who lay the most beautiful sky blue eggs).  They announce the start of each day for us.
